How to Customize Internet Explorer

Internet explorer can be customized according to the choice of the visitors. You can customize the font, color, text size, add toolbar buttons, change the browser’s layout and play with many other options according to your unique tastes. In this article, you will learn that how to change the different options in the Internet Explorer.

Change the Color and Font

If you want to change the color of the web pages that you view in the internet explorer then go to the Tools > Internet options > Colors. Here you can set your desired colors of the links and pages. To set your required font click Font in the General tab and set the font of your choice.

Change Your Home Page

If you want to set home page of your choice such as www.yahoo.com, www.cnn.com, www.Google.com etc then you can do it by the following method.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > General
Go to Home page and type your desired URL.
Click apply and ok and your home page is set now.

 

 

 

Setup Internet Explorer Security

There are different security levels and you can allow or permit any website, disable/enable java scripts, enable/disable .net related components, use popup blocker and enable/disable the Activex and other scripting. To set the security setting go to Tools > Security > Internet and set your default security level. For permitting the websites click Trusted Websites and for blocking the websites click restricted websites and add the insecure, spam and risky websites.

How to Resize the Toolbar

To resize the toolbar in the internet explorer, drag the bottom edge of the toolbar up down, left or right until you get the desired size of the toolbar. As you resize the toolbar the location of the toolbar also change. In order to get the previous position, you need to set the toolbar to its original size.

Automatic Image Resizing

Automatic resizing feature in the Internet explorer is used to resize the images that are too big to fit in the explorer’s Window. After the resizing option is set, you don’t need to scroll the windows up, down, left or right. By default the automatic image resizing option is turned on and you can set it on and off by the following method.

• On the tools, click Internet options.
• Click advance and then click multimedia section.
• Select “Automatic Image Resizing check box” here you can set this option on or off.

Clear Browser’s Cache

Cache stores the temporary internet files, cookies and history information. By clearing the cache you can observe a significant improvement in the browser’s speed. You can do it by the following method.

Go to Tools > Internet Options and press General Tab
In the temporary internet files section click Delete Cookies and Delete files one by one. Next is to click Settings > View Files here you have to select all the files and delete them.

How to configure Internet Explorer to have multiple download sessions

In this section you will learn that how to configure internet explorer to have multiple download sessions. You need to edit the registry so before doing any kind of editing in the Windows registry take a full backup of the registry and make sure that you know how to restore the backup. To increase the number of simultaneous connections to the internet servers follow the below steps.

• In Windows click Start > Run and Type Regedit or Regedit32 to open the Registry panel.
• Go to the following part in the registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings.

• Click the Edit menu and point to new and click DWORD value.

Add the following registry values.

Value name: MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server
Value data: 10
Base: Decimal

Value Name: MaxConnectionsPerServer
Value data: 10
Base: Decimal
