How to troubleshoot the internet connection?

Internet is the rapidly growing industry of the day. And by the passing of each day more and more people are getting connected with this world of internet. And due to lots of tools, techniques and technologies involved in this world of internet, people faced lots of difficulties. They came across various errors and to troubleshoot those errors is difficult task. But by following few instructions you can solve all your problems. You don’t need any expertise to troubleshoot. Most common internet connection problems are:

  • No dial tone
  • Low browsing speed
  • Excessive disconnection
  • Connection refused by the ISP (Cannot log on to the server)

NO DIAL TONE:

If you tried to configure an internet connections then after successful configuration plug in the telephone line. One end is inserted in the modem and other on the main connection line. Now just dial the ISP number to connect. If you receive the message “NO DIAL TONE” then possible issues will be

  • No tone in your main connection is present so check your main line
  • The joining cable is damaged and need to be changed
  • The connector of the cable might be broken just change it

 

 

LOW BROWSING SPEED:

Many times you came across of such situation where you are connected to the internet but even then you are unable to open any web page. Common Microsoft internet explorer returns an error like “The Page cannot be displayed”. It is the sign that the internet speed is not capable enough to retrieve your requested web page. The main reasons of low browsing speed can be

  • Local internet congestion (Choose for best ISP with less traffic)
  • Using automatic updates (Disable automatic updates that uses extra bandwidth)
  • Improper configurations (Configure modem speed 56000 bps in modem options)
  • Noise in the phone line (Check main line or connecting cable for noise)

EXCESSIVE DISCONNECTION:

It often happens that you connect to the internet but after some time it gets disconnected. When you try many times it increases you phone calls attempts and also affects your budget. So to avoid such condition we can check:

  • Noise in the phone line (Opt for a better media)
  • Improper modem speed configured (Configured the modem speed accordingly)
  • Modem driver is not compatible (Only choose the best suitable driver)
  • Cannot resolve Ip address (check TCP/IP setting)

CONNECTION REFUSED BY ISP:

This problem often arises when your modem is properly configured and all your media like cables are working properly but when you dial an error message appear “Cannot log on to the server” the main reasons can be

  • The server of ISP is busy (wait for server to get vacant)
  • Your account subscription has been expired (Renew your subscription)
  • Server is not available at this time (Consult support staff of ISP)
